Beatles members reunion for Olympics will not happen

Paul McCartney is said to be "up for" playing the opening ceremony at next year's London 2012 Olympic Games in Stratford.

However, Ringo Starr will be busy touring the US, so won't be reuniting with his old Beatles bandmate for the one-off show, as previously suggested.

The Mirror reports that plans for the show are still to be finalised, but The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, bands who were both approached, will definitely not be playing the event.

Paul McCartney has also been in the headlines thanks to a story on political whistleblower Guido Fawkes' blog.

Apparently, Piers Morgan listened to a voicemail that McCartney had left his wife Heather Mills during the breakdown of their marriage. The blog alleged that in 2006, Morgan wrote in the Daily Mail:

"I was played a tape of a message Paul had left for Heather on her mobile phone. It was heartbreaking. The couple had clearly had a tiff, Heather had fled to India, and Paul was pleading with her to come back. He sounded lonely, miserable and desperate, and even sang 'We Can Work It Out'".
